Filming under sail. Floating Film Studio

Filming while sailing, filming while sailing – a film studio on the sailing barge de Lis. Do you love sailing, being on the water, and do you have a love for film, light, and sound? During this weekend and at the 24-hour race, it is a full moon. And in the spring, the light on the water is even more special. Filming Under Sail is a film studio on the sailing barge De Lis from Muiden. In this multi-day masterclass, we combine sailing with filming, paying attention to observing changing light, sound, and focus. Furthermore, we sail and stay on the atmospheric sailing barge De Lis, with comfortable sleeping accommodations in the double cabins. Film lecturer: Marieke Rodenburg, documentary filmmaker (Philming) Skipper: Leon Oosterbroek of sailing barge de Lis During these days, you will learn or deepen your film skills and work on a cinematic production, either your own or a joint one. Meetings The Magic of Film & Video Games

Welcome to "The Magic of Movies & Video Games". In these meetings, we explore how we can use our own creativity and curiosity to create visual stories that truly touch people — on the level of the great storytellers. These meetings take place weekly from Thursday, November 13 to Thursday, December 18. Using scenes from well-known films and games, we discuss themes, narrative structures, and how lighting, camera, and styling can transform from technical means into narrative tools. In what ways is a narrative theme hidden within famous films and games? But there is a deeper layer. The great storytellers have a message they have been trying to convey for years, a message that touches upon the greatest mystery on Earth: the mystery of humanity. Film lecturer Ruud Terhaag will moderate the conversation. In six sessions, we unravel the magic behind successful films and video games. With the knowledge and skills you develop, you not only learn to unlock your own creativity, but you also gain new insights to use the power of visual language in your own stories. With these insights, you take your film or video game to a global level. For whom? Filmmakers, film and game enthusiasts, video game developers, and teachers in these fields. Practical information The course takes place weekly from Thursday, November 13 to Thursday, December 18, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Lindenberg Nijmegen. Participation in the course costs €59.95. Course participants receive the book *Verhalen in verbeelding* by Ruud Terhaag for free. The six sessions are structured as follows: 1) Motivation & themes (using scenes from James Cameron films), 2) Story structures, 3) Interaction, 4) Technical means, 5) Stylization, 6) The big stories (using scenes from The Matrix).
