Mustafa Rafat
Call for Director of Photography (DOP) – Short Film BESTEMMI
We’re Looking For a DOP Who:
Has experience with low-light/night shoots and can balance realism with stylized visuals.
Can execute driving scenes safely and effectively (prior work with car mounts or dash cams is a plus).
Owns or has access to equipment (e.g, gimbals, portable lighting).
Strong understanding of lighting, composition, and camera movement
A keen eye for visual storytelling and mood
Thrives in collaborative, fast-paced indie shoots (3-5 days).
Understands the Gen Z aesthetic: raw, immediate, and emotionally unfiltered.
Key Challenges:
Nighttime Cinematography: 70% of the film takes place at night, requiring creative artificial lighting (streetlights, car interiors, practicals) to craft a haunting, cinematic look.
Driving Scenes: Dynamic day/night car sequences (mounted rigs, poor man's process or guerrilla solutions).
Visual Style:
Gritty night scenes, moody nighttime cinematography (70% of the film)
Driving shots (day & night)
