About Filmpeople

What is Filmpeople?
Filmpeople is the network for film and tv makers. We are an independent organisation and support makers via various online platforms. About Filmpeople
Our services
The ideals and people behind Filmpeople
How did Filmpeople start?
Filmpeople was founded in 2004 by Sander Jansen and Fedor Limperg, both filmmakers by background. We started with the website Filmstart.nl. The Filmpeople initiative grew out of our earlier activities to support filmmakers via the internet; between 2000 and 2004 Sander built the website for the (then) association for New Film and Television Makers (NFTVM), and Fedor, as a film academy student, founded the website Filmstart.nl. Both platforms met a need among film professionals, beginning makers and emerging talent to get in touch with each other and to share information in an accessible way. In 2004 Fedor and Sander joined forces and founded Filmpeople. The aim was to be able to mean more for the film world together, and to combine skills, knowledge and experience. We always stand on the side of the filmmakers, not on the side of big money. We therefore have a lot of attention for the side of the makers and the people with new initiatives, because we think that without (people with) ideas there would be no films. It is also one of the reasons we have made our platform so accessible and approachable for everyone who has anything to do with film. In addition to their activities for Filmpeople, Sander and Fedor have always remained active in other ways within the film world, both creatively (directing and writing their own films) and in board positions (VEVAM, Nisi Masa, ISAN, MeccaPanza, Stichting Filmnetwerk).
What exactly does Filmpeople do?
Filmpeople supports filmmakers in the Netherlands and beyond on the internet via handy, self-built web tools.

Where possible we help with everything on the web surrounding film production. Our services are accessible via our websites: Filmcastings.nl, Filmvacatures.nl, Filmnieuws.com and Filmpeople.com.

At Filmpeople we write our own software. This lets us offer film professionals a tailored service, fully geared to the needs of the film world.

Our goal is to support people who work on films by connecting them in various ways, both online and offline. For that we have built platforms that promote communication between film people. There you find, among other things, the latest news, you can present yourself with an extensive profile, and you can offer and find services and goods on the messageboards.
What are the ideas behind Filmpeople?
Making films almost always means: collaborating. Filmpeople wants in that context to support everyone who is involved in making (and showing) films online. We want to make sure that film people easily get in touch with each other via our platforms and get to know each other's work better. Filmpeople focuses mainly on the diverse film professionals within the film industry. These are of course filmmakers but also, for example, actors, distributors, film analysts, film critics, film students and policymakers. We offer an accessible platform for everyone: from Oscar winners to beginning extras and from film scholars to festival enthusiasts. We believe that there is one overarching goal that binds everyone: making and watching beautiful films together.
Who makes Filmpeople?
Filmpeople was founded by Sander Jansen and Fedor Limperg. Team: Filmpeople relies on the cooperation, knowledge and expertise of various external people. Below you'll find an overview of the special people who help build our network: https://v4.filmpeople.com/gm-en/ideas-behind-filmpeople
How do I get in touch with you?
You can get in touch with Filmpeople via the Filmpeople Helpdesk: [email protected].

Our services

Which newsletters do you send?
If you have an account, you can subscribe to our mailings via the 'Mailings' tile in your dashboard. We currently send the following newsletters:

- Filmpeople general mailing list
- Field updates (information, workshops and partner offers)
- Filmnieuws (for film professionals)
- Vacancies (film and tv)
- Internships (film and tv)
- Casting Calls (actors)
- Extras calls
- Market: buying/selling second-hand equipment

The frequency differs per newsletter, from about twice a week to a few times a year. You set your preferences under 'Mailings' after logging in.
Which types of noticeboards are there?
With your Filmpeople account you post and read messages on the messageboards. Messages are organised into categories, such as vacancies, internships, collaborations, buying/selling & renting, courses, casting calls and extras calls.

Two categories have their own website: vacancies, assignments and collaborations are on Filmvacatures.nl, and casting and extras calls on Filmcastings.nl. You post and read the other messages via Filmpeople.com.

To post or reply you need to be logged in.
How does the Filmpeople network work?
Filmpeople is the network for film and tv makers. Via Filmpeople you make contacts, exchange portfolios and initiate collaborations. It is the place to present your work, company or organisation: create a profile, enter profile texts and upload videos, photos and audio. You can also create a production list and add your own film companies or organisations. Thanks to the detailed breakdown by field, you easily find the right companies and people — before, during or after the production process.
Which start pages are there?
On Filmpeople.com you find start pages per field:

- Acting
- Animation
- Art department
- Broadcasting
- Camera
- Casting
- Crew services
- Distribution
- Festivals
- Finance
- Sound
- Grip
- Lighting
- Location & set
- Editing
- Music
- Education
- Organisations
- Post-production
- Production
- Projection
- Directing
- Screenwriting
- Television

Via each field you search specifically for news, messages, people, calls and companies active in that field.
How many websites do you manage?
Filmpeople currently runs four of its own websites with services for film professionals:

Filmcastings.nl, Filmvacatures.nl, Filmnieuws.com and Filmpeople.com.
Why do I need a profile?
Filmpeople is the place for film and tv makers to present their work, company or organisation. You do this by creating a profile, adding a category, entering profile texts and uploading videos, photos and audio. You can also create a production list and add your own film companies or organisations. Anyone working professionally can create a (free) account. Thanks to the detailed breakdown by field, you easily find the right companies and people — before, during or after the production process. All messages posted by users are moreover labelled by field (a camera message is brought to the attention of camera people, editing messages to editors, and so on). This is how you make contacts, exchange portfolios and start collaborations. If you want to use all the possibilities, a paid membership is recommended. Don't forget to add a profile photo to increase your visibility.

The online platforms

Filmpeople.com: the network for film and tv makers
Filmpeople.com is the network for film and tv makers. Here you create a profile, are findable for colleagues, companies and organisations, and find their work. You also find news per field and messageboard posts selected per field. Want to be findable yourself (or with your company)? Create a profile and activate it; with a membership you are shown more prominently.
Filmnieuws.com: news for film professionals
Every day we collect the news that is relevant for film professionals. For this we use current items we find online and consider important: news from the major festivals, institutions and funds, and news about the latest film productions, interesting screenings and calls to filmmakers. Twice a week, on Monday and Thursday, we compile a newsletter with a selection of the most relevant items. You can sign up for this mailing via the website.

The website for this service is called Filmnieuws.com.
Filmvacatures.nl: looking for work
Filmvacatures.nl is the website where you can find vacancies, but also assignments, calls and collaboration proposals. Anything is possible, from market-rate assignments to low-budget productions and projects to strengthen your portfolio. To post something or respond to a vacancy or proposal, you need to take out a membership. The vacancies and calls are placed by external parties; Filmpeople is not itself responsible for their content or placement, but we regularly screen vacancies to prevent abuse. So always use your common sense and report suspicious calls and vacancies to us so we can fight abuse of the website.
Filmcastings.nl: find actors or acting jobs
Via Filmcastings.nl, filmmakers and casting agents can search for actors, voice-over artists, models and extras. As an actor, extra or model, you can search for acting jobs in the film industry. To post something or respond to a vacancy or proposal, you need to take out a membership. The calls are placed by external parties; Filmpeople is not itself responsible for their content or placement, but we regularly screen calls to prevent abuse. So always use your common sense and report suspicious calls to us so we can fight abuse of the website.

Which account types are there?
When you create an account you choose one of the following types:

- Film professional – you work professionally in the film and television industry
- Film company / film organisation – you represent a company or organisation
- Film student – you are studying towards film and television
- Semi-pro – you work partly in the industry or are semi-professionally active
- Interested / family & general public – you are interested in the industry, want to register as an extra, receive mailings or manage someone else's profile

A full overview of the options can be found in the overview of accounts and memberships.
How do I create an account?
Creating an account is free. You can sign up here: sign up.

First you enter your e-mail address and receive an e-mail with an activation link. Then you choose your account type. After that you can choose whether you only want an account, or also want to create a profile so you are findable on Filmpeople.

Note: an account is free, but to activate a profile we ask a one-time contribution of € 2.30 (incl. VAT). With a membership, activation is free.
I want an account but no profile — is that possible?
Yes. During sign-up you can choose 'only an account, no profile'. You can then receive mailings and post messages on the messageboards, but you are not visible with a profile in the guide. You can always create and activate a profile later on.

The Filmpeople membership

How do I become a member?
To become a member you first need a (free) account.

During sign-up you can choose a membership in one of the steps.

Already have an account? Log in, go to your dashboard and click the 'Lidmaatschap' (Membership) tile. There you choose the membership that suits you. You can also go straight to choose a membership.
Which types of memberships are there?
Filmpeople offers several memberships, tailored to your account type.

For individuals: Filmpeople Basic, Filmpeople Pro and Filmpeople International.
For companies and organisations: Filmpeople Company (Basic, Medium and Full).

There is also always a free account, with limited possibilities.

You can find the current memberships and prices when logged in under the 'Lidmaatschap' (Membership) tile (choose a membership), or in the overview of accounts and memberships.
Who can become a member?
Anyone who is studying or working in a profession related to the film industry can sign up as a film professional. People who do not fall into this category of film professionals can sign up as an interested party.
How can I renew my membership?
A membership at Filmpeople is renewed automatically; you do not need to apply for the renewal separately.
I do not want to renew my membership. How do I let you know?
Log in and go to the 'Lidmaatschap' (Membership) tile in your dashboard. There you stop the automatic renewal yourself. Your membership then ends automatically after the current, paid term. You do not need to contact the helpdesk for this.
Can I change my membership type afterwards?
Upgrading at no extra cost is (currently) not really possible. It can be done, but only if you are willing to pay the full amount of the new membership on top. Downgrading to another, cheaper type of membership is possible at no extra cost, but also without a refund (if you want to downgrade, please contact the helpdesk).
Which discount arrangements are there with your partners?
For members we make arrangements with partners about discounts and benefits from time to time. The current arrangements:

- ISAN: through your Filmpeople account you can easily (and often at a discount) apply for an ISAN number. ISAN is the ISBN number for audiovisual works.

Note: partner arrangements may change. When in doubt, ask the helpdesk for the current discounts: [email protected].
How can I cancel my membership?
You stop the automatic renewal yourself: log in and go to the 'Lidmaatschap' (Membership) tile in your dashboard. Your membership then ends automatically after the current, paid term.

Paid memberships run for at least 12 months. After the first 12 months you can also cancel immediately (mid-term); we then only charge the months already elapsed (see the monthly rates in the Terms and Conditions). For such an immediate cancellation you contact the helpdesk: [email protected].
What happens to my data after cancellation?
As soon as a membership stops, your account is automatically reset to a free account. You then remain (in a limited way) visible in our system and on Filmpeople, and you can always upgrade again to a paid membership without losing your data.

Do you want to remove your profile from the system entirely? You do that yourself: log in and go to 'Account' in your dashboard and choose 'Account verwijderen' (Delete account), then follow the instructions.
Why should I become a member?

My account (settings and access)

I can no longer log in, what could be wrong?
If logging in doesn't work, usually one of these things is going on:

1. Your password or e-mail address is incorrect. Set a new password via forgot password. The e-mail goes to the address you created your account with.

2. We have temporarily blocked your profile due to improper use. In that case contact the helpdesk.

Neither of these? Then also contact the helpdesk: [email protected].
How do I retrieve my password?
On the login screen click 'forgot password' (or go to forgot password).

Enter the e-mail address you registered your account with and submit the form. You then receive an e-mail with a link to set a new password yourself. For security reasons we never send your existing password.

Not receiving the e-mail? Check your spam folder first. If it still doesn't work after that, e-mail the helpdesk.
How do I delete my account?
Log in and go to 'Account' in your dashboard and choose 'Account verwijderen' (Delete account).

Confirm on the form that you want to delete your account. You then receive an e-mail with a confirmation link. Only when you click that link is the deletion set in motion.

After confirmation you still have 24 hours to change your mind, during which you can cancel the deletion. After that your account is permanently deleted.

Note: after permanent deletion your data can no longer be recovered.
How do I change my login details?
Log in and go to 'Account' in your dashboard and choose 'Login gegevens' (Login details). There you change your e-mail address/login name and your password. For changes you enter your current password as a check.
How do I change my email address?
Log in and go to 'Account' > 'Login gegevens' (Login details) in your dashboard. Your e-mail address is also your login name, and your invoices are sent there as well.

You change a company's e-mail address at the relevant company profile under 'Gekoppelde profielen' (Connected profiles).

My profile

How do I post or remove photos, videos and audio?
Log in and go to 'Mijn profiel(en)' (My profile(s)) in your dashboard. There you manage your media separately: Mijn fotos (Photos), Mijn videos (Videos) and Mijn geluid (Audio).

Photos: click 'Foto toevoegen' (Add photo) (max. 10 MB, jpg/png/webp). Remove a photo with the trash icon next to it.

Videos: add a video via a YouTube or Vimeo search (you don't upload a video file, you link an existing video).

Audio: upload an audio file or link an external URL.

Mind the limits of a free account: 3 photos, 1 video and no audio. With a membership these are unlimited.
How do I add an extra profile?
From your account you can manage several profiles. Log in and go to 'Gekoppelde profielen' (Connected profiles) in your dashboard. There you can add a profile for a child, for your own business (sole trader) or for a company/organisation with several people. You manage all these connected profiles from your own account.
Can I create a profile for a company or organisation?
Yes. Log in and go to 'Gekoppelde profielen' (Connected profiles) in your dashboard and choose 'add profile'. You can link a company or organisation to your personal account, or create a separate company account (useful if you don't want a personal profile, or don't want your profile linked to the company).
How many photos, videos and audio can I add?
With a free account you can add at most 3 photos and 1 video (and no audio). With a membership, photos, videos and audio are unlimited. You manage your media in your dashboard under 'Mijn profiel(en)' (My profile(s)) (Photos, Videos and Audio).
How do I create a profile for my child?
First create an account with the type 'Parent / family & friends'. Then, in your dashboard under 'Gekoppelde profielen' (Connected profiles), you can create and manage a profile for your child. You manage the child profile from your own account.

My findability

I can't find myself on Filmpeople. Why is that?
Whether and how prominently you appear on Filmpeople is determined automatically by the system, based on the available information in your profile. The more complete your profile — your functions/fields and especially your productions — the better you can be found. So it helps to add productions.

What you do decide yourself is in which section you want to be findable: cast (in front of the camera) or crew (behind the scenes). You set that under 'Mijn vindbaarheid' (My findability) in your dashboard.

With a free account your visibility is limited. With a membership you have more control: under 'Mijn vindbaarheid' you can also choose preferred categories, so you appear more prominently under those categories.

If you just changed your data, it can sometimes take a moment before this is visible. A profile may also have been removed from the publications in case of abuse of our services (see the Terms and Conditions).

Still can't find yourself after that? Then e-mail the helpdesk: [email protected].
I cannot find my profile in the right category. What is going wrong?
You don't have to set your categories entirely yourself: the system determines, based on the available information in your profile, under which categories you are shown. The more complete your profile — think of your functions/fields and especially your productions — the better the system can place you. So it helps to add productions.

What you do indicate yourself is in which section you want to be findable: cast (in front of the camera) or crew (behind the scenes). You do that under 'Mijn vindbaarheid' (My findability) in your dashboard.

With a membership you have more control: under 'Mijn vindbaarheid' you can also choose preferred categories, so you appear more prominently under those categories.

Do you find yourself in the wrong category, or are you missing one? Complete your profile further (functions and productions) and, as a member, adjust your preferred categories under 'Mijn vindbaarheid'.

My productions

How do I add a production to my profile?
Log in and go to the 'Producties' (Productions) tile in your dashboard. Click 'Productie toevoegen' (Add production) and follow the steps.

Note: adding productions is only possible with an activated profile (via the one-time contribution of € 2.30 or with a membership).

My companies

How do I create a profile for my company (or organisation)?
Log in and go to 'Gekoppelde profielen' (Connected profiles) in your dashboard. Choose 'add profile' and then a company or organisation. You manage the company profile from your own account.
How do I delete my company from the system?
A connected company or profile cannot always be deleted by you yourself at the moment. In that case e-mail the helpdesk ([email protected]) and we will delete it for you.
Can I register my company (or organisation) as a member?
Yes. We have special memberships for companies and organisations (Filmpeople Company, in the Basic, Medium and Full variants). You create a company profile via 'Gekoppelde profielen' (Connected profiles) in your dashboard — linked to your personal account or as a separate company account — and choose a membership there.
How do I manage connected profiles (child, sole trader or company)?
In your dashboard you'll find 'Gekoppelde profielen' (Connected profiles). There, from your own account, you can create and manage profiles for:

- a child
- your own business (sole trader)
- a company or organisation with several people

This keeps everything under one login. A company with several people can also be given its own login if desired.

My posts

How do I post a message?
Log in and go to the 'Berichten' (Messages) tile in your dashboard. Click 'Bericht plaatsen' (Post message). In the same overview you also see the messages you posted earlier.
How do I delete a post?
Log in and go to the 'Berichten' (Messages) tile in your dashboard. In the overview of your messages you can edit ('Bewerk') or delete ('Verwijder') a message.
Who is allowed to post messages?
Anyone with a Filmpeople account can post a message, as long as you abide by our Terms and Conditions.
Where can I send a press release?
Filmpeople does not post press releases itself. You can post a news item yourself via the messageboards: log in, go to 'Berichten' (Messages) in your dashboard and choose 'Bericht plaatsen' (Post message) in the news category.
My post has been deleted or its content has been changed, how is this possible?
We may have deleted a post for the following reasons: - When a message has been placed in an incorrect category or section. - When the author (likely) is impersonating someone else. - When the content of a message conflicts with statutory provisions. - When Terms and Conditions and/or netiquette are violated. Forbidden content can include, for example: pornographic, discriminatory and/or racist statements. Action is also taken against sending or posting unwanted advertising messages.
Why do I have to pay to post a message?
Maintaining and improving our sites requires a budget; we partly cover this through paid messages. A small contribution per message also reduces spam on the messageboards, to the benefit of all serious users, and makes abuse less attractive.

If you have a membership, you post messages for free and can reply without limit.

My newsletters/mailings

How do I unsubscribe from mailings?
Log in and go to the 'Mailings' tile in your dashboard. There you tick per newsletter whether you want to receive it. At the bottom you can 'Unsubscribe from all mailings' in one go.

At the bottom of every newsletter there is also an unsubscribe link for that specific newsletter.
How do I sign up for (one of) your newsletters?
Already have an account? Log in and go to the 'Mailings' tile in your dashboard; there you choose per newsletter whether you want to receive it.

No account yet? Create one for free via sign up; setting your mailing preferences is one of the steps.
Which e-mail address are mailings sent to?
By default we send mailings to your account's e-mail address. Want to receive them at a different address? Go to 'Mailings' in your dashboard and choose a different e-mail address under 'Bezorgadres' (Delivery address).

Payments, renewals, cancellation and invoices

How do I view my invoices?
You can find your invoices in your dashboard under the 'Facturen' (Invoices) tile. Paid invoices can be downloaded there as a pdf; open invoices can be paid directly.

Invoices are also sent by e-mail to your account's e-mail address. Can't find an (old) invoice? E-mail the helpdesk: [email protected].
Which payment methods do you accept?
You can pay with iDEAL, credit card or PayPal. For one-time payments, companies can also choose 'by invoice (bank transfer)'. Automatically renewing memberships run via iDEAL or credit card. Payments are processed securely and externally; we do not store bank details.
Is it possible to pay 'on invoice' with you?
Companies can choose to pay 'by invoice (bank transfer)'. This option is available for one-time payments; for automatically renewing memberships you pay via iDEAL or credit card. Choose the desired payment method in the payment menu.
How does automatic renewal work?
Paid memberships run for at least 12 months. After this first 12 months the membership is automatically renewed for an indefinite period; from then on you can cancel monthly. At the start of each period you receive an invoice by e-mail.

You stop the automatic renewal yourself in your dashboard under 'Lidmaatschap' (Membership); your membership then ends after the current, paid term.

Want to cancel immediately (mid-term)? Then contact the helpdesk ([email protected]); we then only charge the months already elapsed and send you an adjusted invoice. The monthly rates are in the Terms and Conditions.
I accidentally chose a paid membership, what now?
We do everything we can to make clear during sign-up which membership you are choosing, and you can still change your choice throughout the process. Did you accidentally choose a paid membership anyway? Then contact the helpdesk as soon as possible, and in any case within 14 days. Within 14 days we can still reverse your request. After that you can still cancel, but the invoice will not be waived.
I am trying to post a message, but the payment is not working. What can I do?
When a payment fails you receive a notification of this; the message is then not posted. Try the payment again or try a different payment method. Still not working? Then there may be an outage. Then contact the helpdesk. Sending a screenshot and/or link is, when possible, always recommended.
I have received more than one invoice from Filmpeople. How can this be?
You may have several paid accounts/memberships, for example if you have two companies or operate under two accounts.

Check in your dashboard under 'Lidmaatschap' (Membership) which memberships you have. If you post individual messages, you will of course also receive separate invoices for those.
I received an invoice, but I already paid last year. What do I do?
Filmpeople memberships are paid yearly and renew automatically. This is clearly indicated during sign-up. Did you request and pay for a membership last year? Then this year you receive a new invoice for the upcoming period.

After the first year you can cancel immediately; we then charge a monthly rate for the months you have already used (see the monthly rates in the Terms and Conditions).

Don't want to renew anymore? Then stop the automatic renewal yourself in your dashboard under 'Lidmaatschap' (Membership); your membership then expires automatically at the end of the current 12-month period. You do not need to contact the helpdesk for this.

Only if you want to cancel immediately (mid-term) do you contact the helpdesk: [email protected].
What should I do if I disagree with an invoice?
Check your settings and subscription or membership type to make sure that the invoice is incorrect, and that you have not yourself forgotten which membership (or subscription) you applied for. Also, just to be sure, check your spam folder in case you have missed a previous invoice or reminder. Still have questions? Then contact the helpdesk!
Do I keep my profile data if I don't renew?
Yes. You can cancel without losing your profile data. As soon as a membership stops, your account is automatically reset to a free account. You then remain (in a limited way) visible in our system and on Filmpeople, and you can always upgrade again; your data is not lost.

Do you want to remove your profile from the system entirely? You do that yourself: log in and go to 'Account' in your dashboard and choose 'Account verwijderen' (Delete account), then follow the instructions.
How do you calculate the rates after renewal?
On renewal we in principle apply the original membership rate. If it does change, we let you know in advance and you can cancel as of the renewal date.

The separate monthly rate — which we only charge for immediate interim cancellation (possible after the first 12 months) — depends on your membership type. In total we never charge more than the annual rate. The monthly rates are in the Terms and Conditions.
I am a member, how do I get a discount with your partners?
For members we make arrangements with partners about discounts and benefits from time to time. The current arrangements:

- ISAN: through your Filmpeople account you can easily (and often at a discount) apply for an ISAN number. ISAN is the ISBN number for audiovisual works.

Note: partner arrangements may change. When in doubt, ask the helpdesk for the current discounts: [email protected].
To my surprise I have received an invoice. Why?
We only send you invoices when you have requested a paid account online yourself on one of our platforms. Confusion sometimes arises because you can sign up for Filmpeople on several websites: Filmcastings.nl, Filmvacatures.nl, Filmnieuws.com and Filmpeople.com.

Almost everyone surprised by an invoice turns out to have forgotten that they signed up. So think back to whether you ever registered for a membership on one of our sites. On the invoice you can find the date on which you chose the account (for renewals that is 12 months later, or a multiple of that).

Filmpeople tries to do business in an open way, so without fine print. During sign-up we clearly communicate which account you are choosing, we ask you to choose a payment method, and you can still change your account and membership type throughout the process. We also indicate at sign-up that the account renews automatically and is easy to cancel after the first term (see the monthly rates in the Terms and Conditions).

If you regret your sign-up immediately and let us know within 14 days, you can still reverse your request. After that you can cancel, but your invoice will not be waived and we charge the first 12 months. You can then still stop the next automatic renewal. Contact the helpdesk for this: [email protected].
How can I cancel my membership?
Don't want to renew anymore? Then stop the automatic renewal yourself in your dashboard under the 'Lidmaatschap' (Membership) tile. Your membership then ends automatically after the current, paid term. No contact with the helpdesk is needed for this.

Paid memberships run for at least 12 months. After the first 12 months you can also cancel immediately; we then only charge the months already elapsed (see the monthly rates in the Terms and Conditions) and send you an adjusted invoice. For an immediate (mid-term) cancellation you contact the helpdesk: [email protected].
I have already paid, why am I still receiving a reminder?
It may be that your payment has not yet been processed. That can take a little while after paying. A first reminder you receive just after your payment can therefore usually be ignored.

Do you keep receiving reminders while you are sure you have paid? Then e-mail the helpdesk: [email protected].
How do you invoice memberships?
Right after taking out a membership you receive an invoice by e-mail. After that you receive a new invoice by e-mail at the start of each term (12 months).

If you cancel immediately after the first term, we only charge the months already elapsed in that last period and send an adjusted invoice.

Note: the term is at least 12 months. Cancelling within the first year or deleting your account is possible, but you will not get a refund or discount on the invoice.

Member discounts with partners

Which discounts are available?
For members we make arrangements with partners about discounts and benefits from time to time. The current arrangements:

- ISAN: through your Filmpeople account you can easily (and often at a discount) apply for an ISAN number. ISAN is the ISBN number for audiovisual works.

Note: partner arrangements may change. When in doubt, ask the helpdesk for the current discounts: [email protected].

Privacy and abuse

How can I report abuse?
Filmpeople does not tolerate abuse. On every messageboard post you can report it via the 'Niet in orde?' (Not OK?) button. We are also happy to help you via the helpdesk: [email protected].
I see my entered data via Google, how is this possible?
Your profile — including photos, videos and audio — is visible online via our platforms, and therefore also to search engines. Part of Filmpeople is public, so people who are not logged in can see this data too.

Don't want that? Then shield your address details via your privacy settings, or remove data (photos, videos, texts) from your profile. You can also delete your account entirely, via 'Account' > 'Account verwijderen' (Delete account). Log in and adjust your data in your dashboard.

For listings in Google, please do not contact the helpdesk: we have no control over what Google shows; it's best to contact Google directly for that. If you really can't adjust or remove your data yourself, e-mail the helpdesk.
How do I shield my address details?
Log in and go to 'Mijn profiel(en)' (My profile(s)) in your dashboard. Edit your contact details there. For your address details you choose one of these options:

- Address details are visible to everyone
- Address details are only visible to logged-in members
- Address details are not visible

Save your change. Your address details are then shielded according to your choice.

Note: we protect your data as well as possible, but can never fully guarantee that data is not viewed by third parties. Therefore never store highly privacy-sensitive information in our system.
How do you process my payment details?
The payment details you enter to pay invoices to us are processed externally and bank details are not stored by us.
What does Filmpeople do to prevent abuse?
Anyone with an account can post messages, reply and fill in their own profile, as long as they abide by our Terms and Conditions and do not impersonate someone else.

We try to prevent abuse by screening messages as much as possible. Only logged-in users can post messages, and every message has a 'Niet in orde?' (Not OK?) button to report abuse. We review reported messages and remove them where necessary; the author may be (temporarily) blocked. If we suspect criminal activity, we inform the police.

We advise extras and beginning actors to read our casting tips, which explain how to recognise fake castings and avoid being scammed.
What is in your terms and conditions?
You can find the Filmpeople Terms and Conditions on this page: https://v4.filmpeople.com/gm-en/terms-conditions-users . NB: For partners and advertisers, separate additional conditions have been drawn up.
Can noticeboard calls on your site always be trusted?
You are free to respond to all calls on our sites, but always use your common sense.

Not everyone who posts messages online is equally trustworthy. There are, for example, fake casting agencies that only want to make money off you, and scammers have been active in the past. We screen calls for unwanted messages, but a fake message is sometimes very hard to recognise.

Be extra careful with casting or extras calls. Most important rule: never pay for a casting (or for a workshop or photo session offered to you during a casting). Professional castings are always free to take part in. Also don't send nude photos, and always keep contact as businesslike as possible. Check who posts the message and whether it is a real, trustworthy company. As a rule, don't go to an appointment alone.

At every step, pay attention to whether it feels 'ok'. Do you come across a suspicious call? Report it via the 'Niet in orde?' (Not OK?) button, so we can remove offenders.
Is my data safe with you?
It is always important to be careful when storing and entering personal information. This applies to all online systems. So always think about what you type or upload; what you do not share can never be misused! Below we explain what Filmpeople does to protect your data as well as possible. Personal data Filmpeople does not collect personal data other than what you enter yourself and thereby make accessible via the website through your profile. We also have several security systems running so that access to the database is shielded from break-ins. Without going into further detail: this prevents the biggest risk, that the database would end up in the open. The system server communicates with the database server via a secure connection and our database backups are stored encrypted. Payment details Your payment details are processed externally and bank details are not stored. Login details For sending your login details, we use an external mail service that communicates via a secure connection. This only works if you have also secured your own email. If this is not the case, anyone who has access to your mail messages in some way (including by intercepting your mail) can find out your password. Reselling of data We do NOT sell your data to third parties. Stay careful! Ultimately, we will never be able to guarantee with 100% certainty that the data you enter will never be viewed by third parties. Therefore, make sure you never store (extremely) privacy-sensitive information in our systems. It really is important to always be careful when sharing personal information on the internet.

Tips for beginning actors

What are your tips for beginning actors and extras?
Preparing for a casting - Make sure you have good photos and note all productions (both films and TV) you have worked on in a list in your 'Film CV'. - Know what your clothing sizes are. - Do not share your personal data with people you do not trust. - Bring an ID. You often need an ID to receive a fee (where applicable). Be on time Rule one in the film world: be on time. On audition and screen test days, it regularly happens that participants show up late. This usually leads to those people being excluded from the selection day. There are often many sign-ups and it is easy for them to take someone else instead of you. During the recordings themselves it is also extremely important to keep your appointments and to be punctual. Relax Under pressure, some people have a tendency to behave differently. Try to just be yourself. For example, try to prepare for the fact that your own voice sounds different when it is played back. Try not to be excessively self-conscious when you see yourself back on film. If you keep feeling uncomfortable about this or are surprised by it, that is very tiring for others. To prevent this, it is useful to film yourself once with a video camera and to watch it back at home at your leisure so you get used to it. Practise some text, for example, and say it out loud into the camera, then watch it back. Also go to bed on time the evening before the audition or selection day. Do not use sedatives, stimulants or narcotics to control your nerves. Do not bring an entourage At most audition and screen test days, many people are often invited. The spaces are not always very large and studios have limited capacity. You should also not see it as an 'outing'. Just don't bring family and/or friends, because that only causes irritation and/or nuisance. If you have doubts about the legitimacy of an audition or a screen test and therefore do not want to be alone, do not bring a whole entourage; stick to one good friend or a family member. Wear suitable clothing When you take part in an audition or screen test, it is wise to pay close attention to your clothing. For example, do not wear clothing with a busy checked pattern or a striped shirt. Also note that the studio lights can make it quite warm during the audition. Make sure you can take off your warm sweater when needed, so that you do not stand sweating and overheated in front of the camera. Also try not to draw attention with your clothing, for example by appearing entirely in red. It's about you and not what you are wearing that day. Another tip: wear clothing that hides sweat patches and in which you feel good and can move. Emotions after rejection There are often a large number of registrations for most auditions and there is a good chance that you will not ultimately be selected. Prepare yourself for this so you do not get disappointed. Even professional actors do auditions and are usually rejected more often than chosen for a role. Enjoy the experience and learn from the process. Good luck!
How do I behave on set as an extra?
Below are some tips about what can happen if you have been selected as an extra: The fitting You will also often have to deal with a fitting (trying on the clothes for the recordings) and you will then wear those clothes on the day(s) the film is shot. You can certainly expect a fitting when participating in a costume drama. Roles on set On set you often have a special EXTRAS COORDINATOR; these are people who take the extras to and from the set, solve problems, etc. The person who directs the extras during the recordings is often the FIRST AD, the DIRECTOR'S ASSISTANT, the RECORDING ASSISTANT. He/she consults with the director and the camera operator (also called the DOP = Director Of Photography) about the position of the camera, actors, vehicles and extras. The director almost exclusively deals with the actors and therefore usually not directly with the extras. The director often does not have enough time for that. The shoot day itself Be warned: you often have to be on set very early in the morning and there is a lot of WAITING. But there is always hot coffee and sandwiches. You should also not be surprised if you continue until 19:30 in the evening. Making films is unpredictable and it can really run very late. Clothing on set Bring warm and rainproof clothing. If you have outdoor scenes, you often stand in the cold or in pouring rain. Always bring an extra jacket or boots, or a sweater. In short, prepare yourself well and protect yourself. Making a film is a complex business and sometimes the situation of the extras is overlooked. If you are well prepared yourself, little can happen to you. Finally ALWAYS report to the production management or contact person if you unexpectedly cannot be present. A film crew is under great time pressure and people who do not keep appointments cause major problems. Having a crew of 25 people wait on 1 extra simply costs far too much money. It can also jeopardise the targets of a shoot day and thereby negatively affect the film itself. Leaving the set early without consultation is also absolutely unprofessional. You then suddenly disappear from the picture and so problems arise with continuity: then the editor in the editing room has a problem because the recordings do not match.
How do I recognise a fake casting?
You are free to respond to all calls on our site, but do use your common sense. Not everyone who posts casting or extras calls is equally trustworthy. We screen calls for unwanted messages, but bad intent is sometimes hard to recognise.

Most important rule: never pay for a casting (or for a workshop or photo session offered to you during a casting). Professional castings are free to take part in. Don't send nude photos and keep contact businesslike. Don't trust a call? Report it via the 'Niet in orde?' (Not OK?) button.
