On-Camera Scene Study Workshop with David Corbett (7-We

Working across multiple scenes over 7 sessions, this workshop focuses on developing strong, clear and playable choices for scene performance. Actors will work with short scenes (approx. 3 pages), which will be sent in advance. The focus is on arriving prepared, knowing the text thoroughly, and ready to work on your feet. Each session includes: • Scene work on the floor with a scene partner • Recorded takes on camera • Direction and adjustments between takes • Immediate playback and group feedback David Corbett uses the camera as a tool for awareness and growth. By watching your own work back, you’ll gain insight into what is working, what can shift, and how adjustments translate on screen. This is a practical, actor-focused process where you learn by doing, refining, and repeating. You will not only work on your own scenes, but also observe others and develop your eye as an actor. Please note: although a camera is used during the sessions, this is not a technical “acting for camera” class. The camera serves purely as a tool for feedback and development.

Filming while sailing, filming while sailing – a film studio on the sailing barge de Lis. Do you love sailing, being on the water, and do you have a love for film, light, and sound? During this weekend and at the 24-hour race, it is a full moon. And in the spring, the light on the water is even more special. Filming Under Sail is a film studio on the sailing barge De Lis from Muiden. In this multi-day masterclass, we combine sailing with filming, paying attention to observing changing light, sound, and focus. Furthermore, we sail and stay on the atmospheric sailing barge De Lis, with comfortable sleeping accommodations in the double cabins. Film lecturer: Marieke Rodenburg, documentary filmmaker (Philming) Skipper: Leon Oosterbroek of sailing barge de Lis During these days, you will learn or deepen your film skills and work on a cinematic production, either your own or a joint one. Whether it becomes a personal, informative, nature, or experimental film, the studio focuses on visual storytelling, (learning) to think, and exploring a translation into film. In short, a sailing, cinematic creative exploration on board! Technical aspects serve the story: camera work and composition, lighting), use of sound, (basic) editing (support), and depend on your experience. Who: (Aspiring) storytellers with ambitions in visual storytelling. Basic knowledge of camera and editing is helpful, but not required. Naturally, for sailing enthusiasts or anyone who enjoys being on the water. Sailing experience is not necessary, but a desire and willingness to help with sailing is. Language of instruction: Dutch (English available if desired) Where: We sail out of the home port of the Lis, Muiden, onto the Markermeer. If you would like to start the year with a deep dive into the Meisner technique, my one-week intensive foundation course will run from 20 - 24th January at the Cinema studio in Overtoom 301 in Amsterdam. The course will run every day from 10:00 to 16:00 on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and until 17:00 on Tuesday and Friday. Meisner technique is one of the most respected and well-known acting techniques, created in the 20th century by American actor and teacher Sanford Meisner. It focuses on teaching actors to be authentic, spontaneous and to work from their guts. We will cover all the three pillars of the technique - authenticity, truthful emotional preparation and improvisation - and will learn how to work off the other person and stay in the moment, every moment. If you have studied Method acting, this course will give you a new set of tools with which to approach your work. Please note that this course is intended for committed actors and will require your entire attention. The course costs €350 including BTW. Led by Kevin Augello, a documentary filmmaker with over 30-years of experience shooting in extreme areas, including natural landscapes like Mt Everest and conflict zones like the Democratic Republic of the Congo, this 3-day course is focused on providing producers, crew and talent with the knowledge and skills they need to assess situations, prepare properly, and how to handle the situations that may arise when filming in risky environments, be they the top of a mountain or the inner city. The course is interactive and there wil be lots of room for questions.
