During the shoot with 5 musicians and a crew in Auschwitz for my new film REQUIEM FOR AUSCHWITZ, we were exactly on time. At the end of the day, Auschwitz went into lockdown, and the day after, Birkenau. We were able to film in a completely empty camp, which yielded striking images in which the musicians walk through empty streets and over empty tracks in Birkenau.
The TV broadcast by NTR was scheduled for August 2 but is now being moved to a later date, because the theatrical release has also been postponed. This film will be the long-awaited sequel to EEN STUKJE BLAUW IN DE LUCHT from 2007, the first film in the Netherlands to depict the murder of nearly 1 million Sinti and Roma.
