Jury: “fresh, raw, original and fun.”
“‘Leader Holland Animation Film Festival 2008: Robin’, created by Pete Bishop and Lee Wilson Wolfe (UK), has won the Best Film/TV Graphics award at the prestigious British Animation Awards. The awards were presented on Thursday evening, April 8, at the BFI Southbank in London. The jury described the HAFF leader as: ‘fresh, raw, original and fun.’”
The British Animation Awards (BAA) honor the best British and European animated films. From student films to commercials, from experimental, artistic shorts to VFX and motion graphics. The BAA takes place every two years. This year was the eighth edition.
Pete Bishop about the HAFF leader:
‘The HAFF opening sequence had to display the logo, the intimate character of the festival, the sense of fun, surprise, and warmth, the carnival atmosphere, and the wonders of animation. A daunting assignment. I remembered a film test by Lee Wilson Wolfe involving a robin. In his garden, he feeds all kinds of animals that practically queue up for it. Lee was up for a bit of fun, so we tried something out. We replaced the breadcrumbs with the symbols for love, happiness, death, and Joost Swarte’s HAFF man. These would all be eagerly snatched up by the robin, just as the audience absorbs the films.’
