Filming for feature film 'Rundskop' starts
The shoot for the feature film 'Rundskop' starts on March 24. 'Rundskop' is an international co-production with Savage Film, Eyworks Film Belgium, Artémis Productions, and Waterland Film. The film received support in the Netherlands from the Netherlands Film Fund.
Debut director Michaël R. Roskam directed the film and also wrote its screenplay. His short film 'Carlo' was selected for the Cannes Film Festival 'Shortissimo', the Clermont Ferrand Film Festival, and the Polar dans la Ville Film Festival in France, among others. There, the film received the Jury Prize for Best Short Film.
The cast includes Matthias Schoenaerts ('My Queen Caro'), Frank Lammers ('Nachtrit'), and Juda Goslinga ('Stella's Oorlog'), among others.
A police murder and the subsequent investigation turn the world of the Belgian hormone mafia upside down. During a transaction within the underworld, a young cattle fattener and hormone dealer from Limburg is confronted with his former childhood friend; together they share a hidden, terrible trauma from their past.
'Rundskop' is set against the backdrop of the Belgian hormone mafia. The tragic murder of Inspector/Veterinarian Karel Van Noppen in 1995 served as inspiration for the film.
'Rundskop' is a story about friendship, loyalty, and lost innocence.
The film shoot will continue until May 10. The film will be in cinemas in the winter of 2011.
