OF IK GEK BEN wins 'Best Film Jury Award' at the Noida International Film Festival, India

Recently, Frank Lammers' feature film directorial debut, Of ik gek ben, won its first international film festival award: the 'Best Film' Jury Award at the 4th Noida International Film Festival in India.
Last summer, the 'tragic comedy thriller' was shown in Dutch cinemas and was also nominated for two Golden Calves: Best Supporting Actress (Monic Hendrickx) and Best Sound Design (Marco Vermaas). Online, Of ik gek ben is available on all platforms; it has also been released on (S)VOD and DVD/Blu-Ray, and the film is expected to be shown on NPO in late 2017.

Of Ik gek ben tells the story of the successful young artist Benjamin, who is completely off the rails when he ends up in a forensic psychiatric clinic. He remembers nothing of a violent crime for which he was convicted. Life in the clinic is absurd and ruthless, but slowly Benjamin regains his grip on himself and realizes what a superficial narcissist he was before he ended up in the clinic. Once free, the reunion with his old friends makes the ground sink beneath him again, and he casts a big question mark over what the truth actually is.

Of ik gek ben is a 'debut film' in every respect. Mike Weerts plays his first leading role and is also the initiating creative co-producer. Frank Lammers made his screenwriting and directing debut last year with this film, based on the debut novel of the same name by Michiel Stroink, and the score is provided by Kyteman, who delivers his first full-fledged film soundtrack with this project.
Of ik gek ben was produced by IJswater Films (Marc Bary), ASO Productions v/h kieM (Mike Weerts) and Pellicola (Guirec van Slingelandt & Daniel Koefoed) in co-production with AVROTROS.

In addition to Mike Weerts and 4-time Golden Calf winner Monic Hendrickx, the cast includes: Cees Geel, Fedja van Huêt, Maarten Heijmans, Bianca Krijgsman, Matteo van der Grijn, Tibor Lukács, Sanne Langelaar, Kees Boot, Hakim Traïda, and Dennis 'Denvis' Grotenhuis.
Of Ik Gek Ben was made possible with the financial support of Brabant C, Netherlands Film Production Incentive, Netherlands Film Fund, CoBO, Abraham Tuschinski Fund, Norma, Meulenhoff Boekerij, donors, and crowdfunders via bkkc/voordekunst.
Distribution is handled by Waterfront Film Distribution (Marc Bary & Erik Schut); the film was released on June 2, 2016, and has attracted nearly 10,000 visitors to date—including the spectacular premiere at the Klokgebouw in Eindhoven and screenings at the Netherlands Film Festival, Film by the Sea, and Lowlands.
