The 48 Hour Film Project is coming to the Netherlands twice in March! The first time from March 12-14 to Go Short, the international short film festival in Nijmegen, and from March 19-21 to the Breda International Film Festival!
In one hectic, busy, sleepless, but above all inspiring and fun weekend, various teams make a short film from start to finish. The 48 Hour Film Project has proven to be an irresistible challenge for both aspiring and professional filmmakers. Consequently, the originally American project has spread across the globe in ten years. After Amsterdam, Utrecht, and Breda, Nijmegen is the fourth Dutch city out of some 80 cities worldwide where this project is organized.
On Friday evening, the starting gun sounds and the clock starts ticking. To build up the tension even further, the teams are given a number of elements, such as a line of text, an object, and a genre, which they must incorporate into their film in a creative way. On Sunday evening, all teams must reach the finish line on time and submit their production. The following week, the results are screened in cinemas, after which the best film per city is selected to advance to the international final in the United States. In the 48 HFP tradition, all the tension can then be danced away at a spectacular closing party.
Directors, scriptwriters, actors, camera operators, lighting technicians, producers, and other enthusiastic filmmakers are called upon to unite in teams and sign up via http://www.48hourfilm.com/nijmegen or http://www.48hourfilm.com/breda. We also call upon organizations, institutions, and companies to step forward as sponsors of the project. From film equipment to coffee and sandwiches, the participating teams can use all the help they can get!
