DELTA SHORTS
Do you want to see your short film screened at an international film festival and gain a lot of exposure? Are you 14–30 years old? Is your film no longer than 10 minutes and was it filmed after June 1, 2008?
Then you have until August 15 to send your film to the DELTA Shorts competition.
Sign up for the DELTA shorts, the short film competition of Film by the Sea in Vlissingen.
The films must be submitted before August 15, and you will be notified by August 20 at the latest whether your film has been selected for the shortlist of the DELTA Young Talent Award and the accompanying €1,000. Information on how to participate and submit your film can be found on the application form that you send to us along with your film.
A professional jury chaired by Hugo Metsers, along with actress Hanna Verboom and actress Rifka Lodeizen, will announce the winner on Sunday, September 13, during Film by the Sea. The jury prize will be presented during the Award Ceremony Dinner on Saturday, September 19, where the filmmaker will join a group of international filmmakers.
The public can also vote for their favorite. All films can be viewed and rated on www.zeelandnet.nl starting August 20. These votes, as well as the votes cast during the screening at CineCity on Sunday, September 13, will count. The winner will be shown on Omroep Zeeland. (Votes from the venue carry more weight than votes via the internet, so invite all your friends to the screening of the DELTA Shorts).
In addition to main sponsor DELTA, the Province of Zeeland has also made a cash prize of €1,000 available. For what?
The assignment
Zeeland is changing, and that is exciting! Our population is currently still growing slightly, and there are regions where a population decline is occurring now or will occur in the future. However, more and more elderly people are living in Zeeland, while the number of children and young people is decreasing.
What does this mean for the future? Will Zeeland soon become the Florida of the Netherlands? Or will water take an increasingly prominent place in our view of living, working, and recreation? The fact remains that the province will change. Fewer young people will have consequences for education in Zeeland. Not every village will have a school in the future. More elderly people will increase the demand for care. Who will be able to provide that care in the future? But fewer people also means more space. And space is a frequently mentioned quality of Zeeland. In short, plenty to think about. For more information, visit www.nieuwzeeland.nu
What do you think Zeeland or your province will look like in the future?
Zeeland can serve as an example for your film, but these changes apply to all provinces of the Netherlands. The young Dutch or Belgian filmmaker who best manages to translate this population decline into a 10-minute short film wins the prize provided by the Province of Zeeland.
You can register via a registration form that you send along with your short film to the Film by the Sea organization. You can find the address details for this on the registration form.
