As part of IDFA, the NBF networking drinks on Monday, November 25, will focus on the documentary script. Together with Scriptdoctors Marieke van der Winden and Sarah Vos, and director Stella van Voorst van Beest, among others, we will discuss how a script can be used to create a successful documentary plan and the challenges filmmakers face during the writing process. Attention will also be paid to the practical side: what should you consider when writing a script for a grant application, and how do you arrive at a well-thought-out plan using a script?

Marieke van der Winden and Sarah Vos (Scriptdoctors) – drawing on their experience as writers and directors of a wide range of documentaries, the Scriptdoctors write and restructure scripts for high-quality documentaries. They specialize in optimizing funding opportunities and work for directors, producers, and broadcasters alike.

Stella van Voorst van Beest (director) – works as a director and editor. Maker of various short and feature-length documentaries, including 't Wordt toch niks in 2001, Gevangenen van de Grond in 2009 (88 min) about the Finnish Tango (NFF closing film), and in 2012 Hoe Luidt het Land (72 min.) about the Dutch soundscape. Her films are characterized by a strongly visual, observational style.
