The sixth edition of the Go Short - International Short Film Festival Nijmegen will take place from 9 to 13 April 2014. For our competition programs we accept all short film genres: animation, documentary, live-action/fiction and experimental/art film. For more detailed information, see our regulations at www.goshort.nl/submit.
European & Dutch Competition
The European Competition consists of short films produced in Europe of all genres. The films are eligible for the Go Short Award for Best Short Film in all four different categories.
The Dutch Competition is a selection of short films produced in the Netherlands, of which the best film is rewarded with the Go Short Award for Best Dutch Short. From these two competitions, a selection of films is compiled that form the Youth Competition and compete for the Youth Award. All films also compete for the Audience Award.
Breaking Shorts: Student Competition
The Breaking Shorts: Student Competition consists of short films produced in European film schools and of all genres. The best film wins an Encouragement Award, and all films are in the running for the Audience Award.
Film students
Go Short offers film students the opportunity to test their works at a film festival even before they have made their graduation film. It is now possible to submit your film for a new program for first, second and third year student films of film schools and academies in the Netherlands. The aim of this new program is to give film students the opportunity to screen their work at an international festival while they are still developing their skills and talents. The intention is to provide them with feedback in an experimental setting at an early stage of their career. That is why a panel of film professionals will be present at the screening of the films to share tips with the filmmakers.
Dutch platform
For professionals during the festival, in addition to all competition films, we also offer an overview of the most recently produced Dutch short films in the video library. This gives international professionals the opportunity to view the offer of the last year and a half. Films up to 50 minutes are eligible for this. All Dutch films that are submitted are automatically included in the Dutch Platform. Because of this part it is important that all entries are subtitled in English.
