Dutch actress Marene Miller (24) will play the role of a journalist in a British biopic about the legendary comedian Tommy Cooper.
Miller previously appeared alongside Derek de Lint in two episodes of the successful British detective series Silent Witness that were recently rerun on Dutch television. She starred with Terence Stamp in the short film One Square Mile: London. Last month, Miller appeared on British television in a guest role in the crime series Case Studies.

TOMMY, in which Miller is now set to star, is a two-hour TV film for the British television channel ITV. The lead role is played by actor David Threlfall (known for, among others, the TV series Shameless). His widow Gwen (nicknamed Dove) is played by Amanda Redman. The film focuses on the relationship between Cooper and his wife on the one hand, and his love for his assistant Mary-Kay, with whom he had a long-standing affair, on the other. It is not yet known who will play the role of the assistant.

Marene Miller plays a Dutch journalist who interviews him after one of his shows. It is a supporting role. According to Miller, it is 'a very fun project that is very good to be a part of.'

Marene Miller was born in The Hague but grew up in England and studied acting there. The actress graduated cum laude from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2010.

The TV film TOMMY is directed by Ben Caron, produced by Lucy Dyke, and written by Simon Nye (Men Behaving Badly).
The Fez-wearing Cooper was a beloved comedian who died on stage during a live TV show in 1984. He was 63.

It is not yet known when TOMMY will be broadcast on Dutch television.
