On the closing night of the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, Mexican director Amat Escalante received the Best Director Award for his film HELI. The Lemming Film co-production had its world premiere as the first film in competition on Thursday, May 16. The film tells the story of young father Heli, who lives with his family in a small town in Mexico. Completely unexpectedly, he is kidnapped and must pay for a crime he did not commit, at a time when the country is plagued by violence and corruption.
