IJswater starts shooting Green Film Making NTR SHORT! 'DOUBLE'

IJswater Films, together with the other participating producers, has been challenged by the Green Film Making Competition to present its new KORT! DOUBLE to produce in a sustainable way. The Green Film Making Competition, an initiative of Strawberry Earth supported by NTR and the Film Fund, among others, encourages filmmakers to produce films in an environmentally conscious and innovative manner. 'In a sustainable Netherlands, the film and television industry cannot stay behind. During the production process of this short film, we have made conscious choices with the director and the production team or will do so in the production process. So we are looking for a 'greener' way of production as much as possible. In the film sector it is difficult to break a pattern when it comes to sustainability and we ourselves of course encounter all kinds of problems. Nevertheless, I hope to share the knowledge we have gained with the sometimes small steps we have taken, so that eventually the implementation of sustainability within the film industry also gains a foothold in the Netherlands..' - says Marc Bary (producer IJswater Films).
Socially responsible companies embrace this initiative. They are involved because of their specific knowledge and contribute sustainable solutions. KRNWTR, voted 2nd most sustainable brand in the Netherlands in 2012, is one of the parties with which IJswater collaborates during this green production. Especially for DUBBEL and IJswater, KRNWTR makes drinking bottles (naturally produced green) available to cast and crew. 'Tap water is tasty, sustainable and cheap and more tap water means less production of disposable plastic bottles.' - said Tom Niekamp (founder KRNWTR).
From Friday 24 to Sunday 26 May, the recordings of DUBBEL will take place on location in Geldrop and the surrounding area of Eindhoven. The short fiction film was written by debuting screenwriter Lianne Damen and is directed by the young talent Mari Sanders, who graduated from the Sint Joost Academy Breda last year with the special graduation film Rue des Invalides. DUBBEL is about two young girls (played by Elodie Hooftman and Jennifer Welts) who practice synchronized swimming. Without realizing it themselves, synchrony has also emphatically crept into their daily lives. When one of them makes a mistake during a swimming competition, the two get into a fight. The irritation runs so high during the scooter ride on the way home that the matter escalates.
DOUBLE is already the 14th SHORT! which IJswater Films will realize in co-production with NTR, with the support of the Netherlands Film Fund, Media Fund and CoBO; IJswater previously produced the KORT! and Golden Bear Winner Raak. A total of 7 production companies are affiliated with this 2nd edition of the Green Film Making Competition, which jointly realize 8 short fiction films that will be presented at the Netherlands Film Festival in Utrecht at the end of September. DUBBEL will therefore premiere there, after which it will be shown online and will be broadcasted on television by NTR next year.
