EYE's MovieZone is launching an online youth series about film, starring Lisa Smit, among others.

For the national film education project MovieZone, an online youth series is being made about friendship, falling in love, daring to be yourself, and especially about film.

This autumn, the ten-part drama series will appear on MovieZone's specially developed online platform. The series tells the story of the popular Max (Steef de Bot) and introverted classmate Billy (Nick Golterman), who both dream of a career as filmmakers. We experience with them the successes, setbacks, and exciting love triangle with their beautiful lead actress Sarah (Lisa Smit) during the making of their film "The Drill Machine Girl".

The director of the series is the award-winning Iván López Núñez (Pain from 2007, My Life on Planet B from 2012). Production is in the hands of NewBeTV, which won the International Format Awards last year for best multi-platform format. The lead roles are played by Steef de Bot, Nick Golterman, Lisa Smit, Alexandra Groenestein, Jim Deddes, and Rapper Keizer, among others. Actor Bart Klever plays a supporting role. Shooting has already started and will continue through the end of May 2013.

Popular Max (18) and his introverted classmate Billy (19) discover that they both share a great passion for film and both dream of a career as filmmakers. They decide to make the coolest film ever together: The Drill Machine Girl, and submit it to the MovieZone Film Festival. As if making a low-budget film wasn't difficult enough, things get even more complicated when Max and Billy both fall in love with their lead actress, Sarah. From partners-in-crime, Max and Billy become rivals vying for Sarah's love. Will Max and Billy follow their dream, or will love prevail?

With EYE's film-content expertise, the knowledge of cross-media format developer NewBeTV, and the involvement of the young target audience itself, EYE is introducing a new way to get young people excited about film. The series on the online platform aims to introduce young people to the filmmaking process, awaken their talent for it, and teach them more about film in general. Each episode highlights a part of the filmmaking process: from writing the script to the premiere. In the series, we primarily follow Max and Billy; more information about the filmmaking process, film history, and film terminology can be found online.

The series will be broadcast online this autumn on the online platform developed specifically for the series.
