This week the recordings will start for the three-part television series 'De Prooi', about banker Rijkman Groenink and the fall of ABN AMRO. The series is a classic tragedy and a financial thriller, written by Frank Ketelaar ('Adultery') and directed by Theu Boermans ('The Chosen One'). The lead role is played by Pierre Bokma, who previously won an Emmy Award for best actor for his role in 'The Chosen One'. Other roles are reserved for Victor Lïw as Nout Wellink, director of De Nederlandse Bank and Anniek Pheifer, as Groenink's personal assistant.

The series is based on Jeroen Smit's bestseller and tells the story of the rise and fall of Rijkman Groenink, who took office in 2000 as successor to chairman of the board Jan Kalff. With his ruthless, ambitious course to get the bank into the top five of the largest international banks, he soon turns out to be playing with fire. Large acquisitions cost the bank more money and yield less than calculated. The value of the bank plummets. At that time, a series of dramatic events unfolded, in which Rijkman Groenink had to do everything in his power to prevent the sale and break-up of ABN AMRO.

The perspective of Rijkman Groenink has been chosen as the point of view. 'De Prooi' is a contemporary royal drama about a topical theme and at the same time a major financial thriller. The series shows how blind ambition is Rijkman Groenink's Achilles' heel. His lack of empathy in particular is almost fatal to him (and the bank).

Other roles in 'De Prooi' are played by Hubert Fermin (Jan Kalff), Paul Kooij (Wilco Jiskoot), Reinout Bussemaker (Rijnhard van Tets), Joop Keesmaat (Frits Fentener van Vlissingen), Guusje Eijbers and Mylene Duijvestein.

'De Prey' is the new series from an acclaimed team: Frank Ketelaar and Theu Boermans, makers of the Prix Europa television film 'De uitverkorene', have once again joined forces.
Frank Ketelaar, who has previously proven to be able to write intriguing scenarios based on existing persons and affairs with 'Bij ons in de Jordaan', among other things, is the screenwriter of the series.
Theater and film director and actor Theu Boermans is the artistic director of the National Theater in The Hague and previously directed the television series 'De Partizans'.
