Multi-talented Johnny de Mol can be seen in the film VALENTINO early next year. Johnny plays the best friend - David - of Najib Amhali (Dino Valentino) in the romantic comedy. David is an underappreciated artist to whom Valentino turns for advice at the most impossible moments. Already at the first casting there was a good click between De Mol and Amhali.

Johnny de Mol about the collaboration: 'I had already met Najib a few times and of course knew him from his shows. That's why I thought it was great that I was asked to play the role of his best friend. Due to our busy schedules we were only able to meet at 10pm. As a result, it never really came down to a traditional casting, but Najib, the director and I had a beer and discussed the role. We clicked very well and I am very honored that Najib and the director were immediately convinced that I can play the role as Najib's best friend without any effort'.

It was previously announced that Elise Schaap, Nasrdin Dchar, Mimi Ferrer and Derek de Lint can be seen in Valentino in addition to Najib Amhali.

Valentino (Najib Amhali) is a successful Italian Maserati salesman and is in a relationship with Monique, the daughter of his boss (Derek de Lint). He is about to get promoted and marry his great love. But Valentino has one problem; he is not Italian! When his father has a heart attack, he makes an emotional appeal to his son. Valentino agrees, but soon his promotion to director threatens to fall completely into the water. And even worse; through all the excuses, Monique (Elise Schaap) begins to doubt his love. To keep the woman of his dreams, Valentino will have to take off his Italian mask.

VALENTINO is directed by Remy van Heugten, known for television series such as Hoe Overleef Ik...?, Van God Los and Feuten.

Filming will take place this summer. Valentino is produced by Lemming Film and Launch Works in co-production with VARA and is released by A-Film Distribution. The film is financed by, among others, the Netherlands Film Fund and the CoBO Fund.

VALENTINO can be seen in Dutch cinemas from January 31, 2013.
