The drama editors of the Public Broadcasting Service have selected 'De hoer en het meisje' by director Martijn Maria Smits from a number of TV drama productions as the Dutch entry for the Prix d'Italia. The winner of the best TV drama production in Europe will be announced in September during the Prix d'Italia Festival in Turin.
'The Whore and the Girl' is part of the series *Devilish Dilemmas* by broadcaster HUMAN, produced by Talent United. It tells the story of a woman from the Eastern Bloc who has been lured to the Netherlands under false pretenses. She is forced to work as a prostitute. One day, an abandoned 4-year-old girl crosses her path. What should she do? Continue working or take care of the girl, at the risk of losing everything?
The series *Duivelse Dilemma's* brings together current topics and committed creators (such as director Jaap van Heusden, Mijke de Jong, and Hanro Smitsman). De Volkskrant: 'Very successful drama series'. NRC: 'A very successful series of single plays in terms of content, drama, and design.'
