On November 2, 2012, the first edition of the 'Day of the Young Filmmaker' will take place in the Cultural Center De Biekorf in Bruges (Belgium). On this day the amateur and semi-professional filmmakers are placed 'in the spotlights'.

The first edition of the 'Day of the Young Filmmaker' will take place during the lustrum edition of the Razor Reel Fantastic Film Festival in Bruges. This day is entirely dedicated to the amateur and semi-professional filmmaker. Anyone passionate about the fantastic world of 'filmmaking' and who wants to enrich his/her knowledge can go there for targeted workshops and lectures related to the basic principles of 'filmmaking'. Amateur filmmakers will also have the opportunity to present their film projects to like-minded people and professionals from the audiovisual sector.

During the 'Day of the Young Filmmaker' VZW Razor Reel organizes the 'Razor Reel Creative Open Screenings'. Razor Reel offers, through the 'Razor Reel Creative Open Screenings', the unique opportunity for creative amateur and semi-professional filmmakers to showcase their talent on the big screen. As an amateur and semi-professional filmmaker you are challenged to make a fantastic 'leader' or short film of maximum 5 minutes, where you are given the choice to tell a 'fantastic story' or to work around one of the themes of the fifth edition of the Razor Reel Fantastic Film Festival. The 10 best entries will be screened exclusively during the first edition of the 'Day of the Young Filmmaker'. The makers of the 10 exhibited entries will also compete for the title of 'Razor Reel Creative Filmmaker 2012'.

Registration for the 'Razor Reel Creative Open Screenings' is possible until 1 September 2012 and is completely free of charge.
