THIRD LEMMING FILM PRODUCTION TO BERLIN

The feature film SNACKBAR by director Meral Uslu has been selected for the 62nd edition of the Berlin International Film Festival. SNACKBAR is screening in the Generation 14Plus program and is thus in the running for the Crystal Bear. The Berlinale 2012 takes place from February 9 to 19. Together with PATATJE OORLOG (directed by Nicole van Kilsdonk) and the short film BROER (directed by Sacha Polak), SNACKBAR will be screened as the third film from Lemming Film during the festival.

A snack bar in a metropolitan suburb is a refuge for Moroccan street youth. They are tough, violent, and criminal. Ali is like a trusted old Turkish uncle to them: understanding, funny, and strict. But what if Ali puts all of this at stake with his addiction to trictrac? SNACKBAR: a film just as hard, funny, tragic, wild, bluesy, and capricious as life itself.

Including: Ali Çifteci (FIRE SEA), Iliass Addab (DUNYA & DESIE), Ilias Ojja (DUNYA & DESIE) and Ismael Tarhabi (PIZZA MAFFIA)

SNACKBAR is directed by Meral Uslu and produced by Lemming Film in co-production with Volya Films and RTV Rijmond. The film was made with the support of the Artistic Intendant of the Film Fund, the Rotterdam Film Fund, and the Netherlands Film Fund. The screenplay was written by Stan Lapinski. The film will have its world premiere at the Berlinale.
