This year, the Jewish Film Festival celebrates its tenth anniversary with a musical program, Music in Motion. In Jewish culture, music is inextricably linked to life's highlights such as weddings, bar mitzvahs, and Shabbat. Music is a universal language. Music as comfort, music as entertainment, and music as a source of income; the theme offers space for humorous as well as tragic, old as well as new, Dutch as well as foreign films and documentaries.

The Jewish Film Festival opens its tenth edition on October 26, 2011, with Les Hommes Libres, a film based on a true story by Ismaël Ferroukhi (Le grand voyage). The lead roles are played by Tahar Rahim (Un prophète), Michael Lonsdale (Des hommes et des dieux), and Lubna Azabal (Incendies). The film was officially selected for the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. Les Hommes Libres will be shown in Dutch cinemas starting November 17. Director Ismaël Ferroukhi will attend this Dutch premiere.

No fewer than eleven films are having their Dutch premiere at the festival, including the opening film Les Hommes Libres (Ismaël Ferroukhi, 2011) and The Klezmatics: On Holy Ground (Erik Greenberg Anjou, 2010). In addition, a range of classics will be screened, such as Breaking Home Ties and a Woody Allen Late Night Marathon.
