Lemming Film and the German financing group Film House Germany are joining forces in production company Hamster, with which they will produce children's films for the German market. Lemming owners Leontine Petit and Joost de Vries will lead Hamster together with Dorothe Beinemeier, formerly a producer at Egoli Tossel in Berlin.

Hamster Film aims to broaden the range of children's and family films in Germany by developing engaging, high-quality films and TV dramas. The productions are rooted in contemporary German society and aimed at a young target audience.

The first titles from the Hamster stable are Boy 7 (an adventure thriller for teenagers, adapted into a screenplay by the German writing duo Mario Giordano - Das Experiment - and Andres Schlüter) and The Heirs of the Night - Nosferas, the first in a series of vampire films for young people based on the fantasy books by Ulrike Schweikert. The Heirs of the Night is being developed as an English-language franchise together with Philipp Kreuzer of co-producer Bavaria.

Hamster Film is the third production company in which Film House Germany holds a stake, alongside Summer Storm Entertainment and Egoli Tossell Film.

Earlier this year, Lemming Film launched a commercial label, through which they will also target a mature audience in the Netherlands.
