URGENT REQUEST FOR MARKET DATA OF THE NETHERLANDS AV SECTOR

In late September 2010, we received a copy of the urgent letter to the Ministry signed by facilities and post-production companies and freelancers regarding the deteriorating climate for (post-)production in the Netherlands.

The revenue of many companies is declining due to the influence of tax schemes and tax shelters in neighboring countries. This is partly because the absence of tax shelters and tax schemes for the audiovisual sector makes the Netherlands less attractive for international productions; and partly because Dutch productions are also increasingly (forced to) make use of tax shelters abroad. The high spending obligations associated with this contribute to (post-)production being outsourced to other countries more frequently.

The Film Fund and the Dutch Association of Feature Film Producers are working on proposals to stimulate businesses and activity in the Dutch audiovisual sector with the aim of reversing the trend outlined above and strengthening the international competitive position of the Netherlands. To this end, it is of great importance to have sector-wide revenue growth, business activity, and employment.

Therefore, we ask for your cooperation and request that you complete the short market survey on our website no later than Monday, January 31. Your data will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and will not be publicly distributed.
