Winner of international web animation competition HAFFTube!
Silver Junkie: Maria, by Gitte Le Bruyn.

The winner of the international web animation competition HAFFTube 2010 is Silver Junkie: Maria, by the Belgian Gitte Le Bruyn (1985). Animation by visual artist of oil paint on glass inspired by the music of the Belgian band Silver Junkie (Tino Biddeloo). Rich in contrast in black and white, with generous brushstrokes, unruly and hopeful.

Gitte Le Bruyn graduated as a visual artist in 2008 from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp.

The international competition for web animations (of maximum five minutes) took place on HAFFTube. HAFFTube gradually filled with animated films from all over the world, with a surprising amount of new, high-quality work. Ultimately, a shortlist of 50 titles was compiled. From this shortlist, the jury, consisting of filmmakers whose films were selected for the shorts competition at the HAFF, selected Silver Junkie: Maria as the big winner. Gitte Le Bruyn will be a guest at the festival next year.
