During the DDG Awards 2026, which took place last night at Boom Chicago, Nouchka van Brakel received a Lifetime Achievement Award for her contribution to Dutch cinema, with her career encompassing films such as *Een vrouw als Eva* and *Van de koele meren des doods*. Her legacy seems to be bearing fruit, as more than half of the winners are women. Maasja Ooms won both the Documentary Prize for *Mijn woord tegen het mijne* and the Grand Prix 2026, while Juul Op den Kamp accepted two awards for *Ode aan de zorg* and *Portraits of a Broken Democracy*. Mike van Diem won the Feature Film Award for *Voor de Meisjes* and Morgan Knibbe received the Treurniet Trophy for *The Garden of Earthly Delights*.
