The ideas behind Filmpeople

Making films almost always means: collaborating. In this context of cooperation, Filmpeople wants to support film people. Filmpeople is aimed at people who work on making, distributing and watching films. Via online tools (software applications) we ensure that film professionals can easily stay informed about what is happening in the film industry, and can connect with colleagues. How Filmpeople works Via the various internet platforms of Filmpeople, film people can approach each other. That way filmmakers can get to know each other's work better, inspire each other and make films together. People can also use the platforms if they are involved in screening, distributing and analysing films. Filmpeople consists of a collection of online tools for film professionals and people who are interested. These platforms are also available to people who are tangentially involved in the film industry. The audience Filmpeople is aimed first of all at all film professionals who work, or wish to work, within the Dutch-language film industry. These are filmmakers on the film set, but also in the office or in the studio (think of editors, runners, sound people, actors, distributors, DOPs, film analysts, film students and policy makers). However, within our network there is also room for film lovers, extras and film amateurs. Essentially anyone who does or wants to do something with film is welcome. Filmmakers for filmmakers The importance of the creative side of filmmaking comes first; without good ideas and artistry no good films are made. In addition to their work for Filmpeople, the staff of Filmpeople are involved in the film industry in various other ways; by directing and writing their own films, but also in board roles at film organisations, as academics at film institutes, and writing about film at both academic and popular level. become a member (log in first) or create an account ____________________________________________ Photo credits CC BY: original photo by Erik Söderström, Some rights reserved by mescon (the photo on this page was cropped and resized).
